8 Best SHEIN Buys for Summer
"I may get commissions for purchases made through links in this post. I am careful to only recommend products I truly love."
If you have heard about the fashion retailer SHEIN you may have a few questions. It almost seems too good to be true. This company is known as a fast fashion retailer which doesn't always boast the best quality clothing and traditionally has poor working environments for its employees. For a more in depth look into SHEIN's relationship with customers and bloggers, check out Lindsey from Have Clothes, Will Travel's honest SHEIN review.
With that being said, I've made it my mission to never count anyone or anything out without trying it first, so I ordered a few pieces for Summer 2021. I bought all of the pieces with my midsize body (I am a size 12) in mind. All of these pieces can be bought in a large variety of sizes to fit all body types.
Everything that I bought from SHEIN was under $20 and I did my best to pair a few different outfits together. Keep reading for my honest opinion on this company's clothing.

The first piece of clothing I tried on was a black ruffle skirt. I have been dying to get my hands on a few of these but I have really struggled to find one that was long enough that I felt comfortable wearing to work as well.
This skirt's pattern is so cute and it has great length. The elastic waist band was comfortable on my waist and I felt like I had plenty of room to move. I ordered a size large and I think that it definitely fit true to size. It had tons of movement and had a lot of length. It wasn't see-through at all and I was impressed by the quality of the material the skirt. I paid $8.56 for the skirt.
The next item I tried on was a pair of high-rise shorts. I am a self-proclaimed linen shorts addict and I'm always looking for new colors to add to my collection. I fell in love with this blue because it reminded me of the beach.
I was a little nervous that these would be too tight on my rear, but they actually fit great. I love the rise and they didn't give me the dreaded camel toe. Plus, they had working drawstrings that made it possible for me to adjust them to fit my size.
I bought a size extra large in the shorts and I definitely thought that they fit true to size. I paid eight dollars for these shorts.
The next item I purchased was a solid V-neck Cami top. I went with White because it's so versatile. This top had a v cut in the front and had spaghetti straps.
The shirt was more cropped than I expected and fit really tight in the chest area. I expected a looser fit based on the photo of the model on the website. I was really disappointed because I was looking forward to this top. I think it would've been great if I sized one size up. This shirt was 6 dollars.

I have been seeing Swiss dot patterns all over the place and I was so excited to try to stop that had the Swiss dot lace detail on the side. The sleeves are see-through and the front wasn't in the picture on the website.
When the shirt arrived, there was detail on the front that was also see-through and the entire back was see-through which made me really sad. The shirt was really cute-- I personally hate wearing camis underneath and I need my clothes to be wearable for casual wear and work, so this wasn't going to work for me. It was a great fit, a bit cropped, but hit right about the waist line. I was impressed with this top! The lace detail was gorgeous. This fit true to size.
I have had my eye on this next top for a very long time. I've actually seen it on my personalized Facebook ads and I'd clicked on it multiple times.
This tiered top lived up to the hype- it is so cute and I absolutely loved it on me. The ruffle sleeves were super comfortable and the top wasn't see-through at all. It was a little tight in the chest area but I think otherwise it fit perfectly! It had a great length and could be dressed up or down. I ordered a size large and paid about $13 for this top.
I was extremely excited for this tattoo but a little disappointing when it arrived. Again, I was deceived by the skinny model in the picture online because it looked like it had a looser fit. But, when I tried it on, it was really tight in the rib and chest area.
I also didn't love that the v neck was in the front and back. If I would've sized up, it would have been way too low of a cut. I ordered a size large. This top was sadly a miss for me in fit, but the design is so cute!

I am a sucker for plain casual tees and I absolutely love this color. It was way tighter than I expected, which is not some thing I usually lean towards when purchasing clothes, but it did fit true to size.
And though I love the color, once I tried it on, I just didn't feel super "summery" about it! I cannot wait to pair it with a jacket and distressed denim in the fall, though! This shirt fit true to size and was a steal at $7.00.
My last purchase was a drawstring Swiss dot for a trim skirt with a drawstring and it was so cute. It fit perfectly it was a great length-- and can we talk about this color?! It is perfect. I love the dusty rose color.
This skirt was flowy and super comfortable and you could dress it up or dress it down. It's a 10/10 for me!
